Kelly & Nick

07/23/2006   Filed under Engagement • Written by Terri @ 9:00 PM

We shot Kelly & Nick’s engagement session in Boulder-first at Chatauqua Park, then we went to the CU Boulder campus. All the rain we’ve been having lately made everything green & lush. The rain also made the day humid and it was very hot as well-these two were troopers.

Me-I kept cool by laying on the ground for alot of the shots. I love that low perspective!

Nick & Kelly are highschool sweethearts and are getting married at the Inverness Hotel in South Denver. We are looking forward to photographing their wedding!!

Lauren & Matt

07/20/2006   Filed under Weddings • Written by Terri @ 10:24 PM

Lauren & Matt were married in Boulder and had their reception at the Lionsgate Center In Lafayette.

The day started out with dark gray clouds and the rain started while the women were getting ready at the church. The thunder was so loud at times that it set off my car alarm-several times!!

Then before the ceremony ended the rain stopped and the rest of the day was beautiful.

During the reception Matt jumped on a chair and sang along with a Journey song. The crowd went crazy with the impromptu and very fun mini concert and whipped out the lighters and grabbed candles from the tables and held them high up in the air.
It was a blast!

Congratulations Matt & Lauren-we wish you all the best!

Leave No (mile)Stone Unturned

07/17/2006   Filed under Family • Written by Eric @ 10:32 PM

The weeks and weeks of anticipation finally came to an end when brush met tooth this morning in what will go down in [Roper Family] history as “The Primary’s Last Stand” or “How Oliver Lost His First Tooth”.

We had been waiting for about two months for Oliver’s first loose tooth to wiggle its way out and kept our fingers crossed that the Tooth Fairy wouldn’t give up and spend that shiny dollar. We had begun to think his fingers had become permanently attached to his mouth as he constantly jiggled away with curiosity. Well as Oliver began to brush his teeth today the pressure from his “Fantastic 4″ toothbrush proved too much for his unsuspecting deciduous friend and it popped out. After a moment of contemplation, and the realization that he didn’t immediately develop a lisp, Oliver proclaimed “HEY! I still sound the same”. For his mom and me though it will be the moment that he had changed forever.

For those of you keeping score at home it was his Upper Left Central Incisor.

Lavonne & Chas

07/16/2006   Filed under Weddings • Written by Terri @ 9:58 PM

Lavonne & Chas were married at the Foothills chapel in Golden and had their reception at the Golden Hotel. The day was very nice with just the right amount of cloud cover.

Lavonne was so calm, cool and collected before the ceremony, she even painted a bridesmaids nails while hanging out in the hotel room.

One of my favorite photos of them together is the one below the women toasting. While the guests were gathering outside the chapel after the ceremony for the bubbles getaway, Lavonne and Chas were waiting on the stairs to go outside. I was behind them on the stairs with my camera to my eye, just knowing (and hoping) that a moment like this would happen. By this time they were so used to us being around that they probably didn’t even notice I was there-or didn’t really care! They were caught up in the moment of being newly wed.

This is why I love my job. That moment is so real and wonderful.

Congratulations Lavonne & Chas!

Michele & John

07/15/2006   Filed under Engagement • Written by Terri @ 8:56 PM

John & Michele are so much fun to be around. They both have a great sense of humor and a great joy for life.

After a few reschedules due to the funky weather we’ve been having here in Colorado, we finally had a good day (without rain and not too hot) for the photo session.

These were taken at Chatauqua Park in Boulder. All the rain we’ve been having lately has made everything so green and lush. Love it.

We are really looking forward to photographing their wedding taking place in Boulder in mid August. I know it’s going to be beautiful and fun!

Hadrian

07/10/2006   Filed under Family • Written by Terri @ 8:39 PM

I’d like to introduce Hadrian!!! He is so cute and tiny. I had been waiting for the phone call that Bronwen was going into labor because I was going to photograph the birth-as long as I didn’t have a wedding. He was due the weekend we had 2 weddings so I was keeping my fingers crossed it would be the day off between the weddings. But you just never know when it’s going to happen.

Thursday night at about 9:45 John calls us to see if we could possibly watch Goran overnight because Bronwen thought she might be starting labor. Since they weren’t sure it was labor he was just covering the bases-just in case. About 10:10 pm he calls back, her water had broken and they were on the way to the hospital. He dropped Goran off at 10:20 pm.

The phone rings again about midnight and it’s Bronwen. Now on my end I’m thinking-okay, cool they are checked in and now I can head out to the hospital.

She tells me that she already had the baby, now here is the best part… at 10:47 pm.

After they dropped off Goran they raced to the hospital- just like in the movies. John driving fast while Bronwen tried not to have the baby in the car. Seriously.

Bronwen just barely made it to the hospital. With no time for her to change or have any pain relief she was put on a gurney and told to push. Within minutes of arriving at the hospital and 2 pushes later Hadrian was born.

We stopped by the next morning to see them and Bronwen looked wonderful-smiling, glowing and with a great birth story.

The photo below Hadrian is Aunt Zoe helping Goran check out his baby brother!!

Ashley & Zach

07/08/2006   Filed under Engagement • Written by Terri @ 10:17 PM

We shot Ashley & Zach’s engagement session by Civic Center Park next to the Capitol building in Denver. They were game to climb structures and have a good sense of humor.

We are really looking forward to photographing their wedding at the end of July. The ceremony will be in downtown Denver and the reception in the mountains. It’s going to be a beautiful day!

One of the interesting parts of shooting in this area besides the architecture is the people who hang out there. Being from Chicago I am used to seeing colorful characters like the guy in the last photo.
After I photographed Ashley & Zach from that angle I walked back to them and heard the guy talking really loudly and thought he was on the phone. Nope- just having a loud conversation with himself. And an interesting conversation at that.

Gracie

07/07/2006   Filed under Headshots, Portraits • Written by Terri @ 9:46 PM

Gracie is Emerson & Elliot’s little sister. She is so cute and very energetic- a whirlwind actually! She is also with the same agency as her brothers.

We also did some family photos of the 4 kids, they were sitting on the rocks by the waterfall and Emerson was holding the baby and Elliot & Gracie were sitting next to them on a higher rock. One of my favorite was one with Elliot, Emerson & the baby in their spots and Gracie whizzing past the camera-a blur.

Elliot

07/06/2006   Filed under Headshots, Portraits • Written by Terri @ 9:32 PM

Elliot is Emerson’s little brother and was just a toddler last time I photographed him.
Before I saw them that day I still had the image of little Emerson in my head-then this kid with a sweet face walks up and I realize it’s Elliot. My, how time has flown by. He is kinda shy, so sweet, funny and a very protective big brother to Gracie.

Emerson

07/05/2006   Filed under Headshots, Portraits • Written by Terri @ 9:21 PM

The first I met Emerson was about 4 years ago when we shot the photos for his comp card. We took some of his little brother Elliot as well and got the sweetest photos of the 2 of them together on a tire swing. They were so cute and adorable.

Their mom M’lisa called to update the photos and I was thrilled to see them all again.
The big difference now was that they have a sister Gracie who is two and a newborn sister.
How exciting!

We met at the Flatirons mall in Broomfield for the photos. It worked out great-especially with photographing three energetic kids. It was great to see M’lisa and the boys again. I don’t know if I would have recognized the boys-they grew up so much. Elliot was just a toddler the first time around and now he is a boy.

Emerson is still sweet, well mannered and a very smart kid.
