This morning we met Jim & Jen at the Starbucks where they had their first date about 18 months ago. Though it was more of a reconnection as they had dated 10 years earlier.
Today we took their engagement photos, and they sat on the same loveseat as they did that fateful date a year and a half ago. Awwww…it was as sweet as it sounds : )
Then we headed over to the Target that they both managed over 12 years ago. It was here that they started dating the first time. While we were shooting it started to flurry, and Jim’s sweater was a snow magnet. Good thing Jen LOVES the snow!
Lastly, we went to a park in Woodridge, and shot for a bit but the cold and the wind got the best of us. We’ll go back out on a day that’s a little warmer, with hopefully little or no wind.
They are getting married in December and we wish them all the best!!

We shot these engagement photos a couple of weeks ago, and as you can see from the photos there was still a lot of snow on the ground. Plus it didn’t get above 30 degrees that day. Since they live in Southern Indiana, and were only here for a couple of days- we were going to have the session regardless of the weather, and were all prepared for the snow and cold.
After talking with them about the type of location they wanted for their photos we knew that The Danada House in Wheaton would be a perfect location. We have to give a shout out to The Danada House, as they were very gracious in letting us photograph the session that day inside and on the grounds!
Katy is a veterinarian, and Austin had horses growing up so shooting in the stables was a perfect fit for them. Plus it was a great way to warm up after being outside for a bit! As we were making our way over to the white fence Austin stopped and picked up Katy so she wouldn’t have to walk in the snow. Awwww…how sweet is that.
We are soooo excited to photograph their wedding late spring in Southern Indiana. We know it’s going to be a wonderful day!!

Kelly & Matt are getting married in late fall in the Chicagoland area. The day should be alot of fun!
We met in front of the Lincoln Park Zoo, and found some fabulous gritty, urban places as backdrops. As well as fun spots like the carousel.
In the top photo I was amazed when the those birds floated right into the perfect area of the frame!! Had I been on a commercial shoot, there would have been bird wranglers just out of frame on either side. But this was not staged, just very appreciated!

Kimberly & Joe chose the downtown area of Denver for their engagement session.
The day was almost perfect and we got some very wonderful images.

This engagement session was shot in Boulder, Colorado at Chautauqua Park and then up the road to Flagstaff Mountain.
It was a beautiful day, though very windy. Believe it or not- Casey’s hair was more affected by the strong wind than Caitlin’s long, long hair.

Guess what? It’s 2008 and I just figured out how to put video in a blog post.
When I found out today that Cindee and Jim’s theme for their wedding was based on the INXS song “Not Enough Time”, it sounded so cool I just had to put this together. I can’t wait to see the images Terri captures at their wedding this summer.
Enjoy

These were shot in the LODO part of Denver. We met at Larimer square, then headed over to the Tabor Center and 16th street mall so we could get the clock tower in the background of the photo.
Then we headed over to Union Station and ended up at Tamaya Grill where they first met.
That is the two of them in the lower left corner of the image with the tall buildings.
I LOVE this part of Denver! So many great places for photos.
Cindee & Jim are getting married in a few months at the Cherry Creek Marina. I am really looking forward to their wedding. I know it is going to be beautiful and lot of fun!

Nick & Niki met me on Sunday in Downtown Downers Grove. It was supposed to be a balmy 47 degrees and I bet it didn’t get above 35 degrees. Brrrrrrrrrrr…
Yowzers-it was cold, very cold. Niki & Nick were great and willing to go coatless for the photos-not me I kept my coat on the whole time : )
Because I am blessed with having the magnificant outdoor locations of Colorado and now the Chicagoland areas for my location sessions I usually am outside buildings-not inside for most engagement sessions.
With the weather being so cold we used more inside locations for this shoot and I loved it. We had to- I felt it would be torturous to keep them outside for any length of time.
We used Starbucks ( and had people wondering what was going on-until they saw me with the camera), the train station and an Irish Pub. The natural light coming in through the windows was gorgeous.
Thanks guys for having such a great attitude on a cold day!

I LOVE Chicago!
There are so many fabulous places for photographs. Any place you go can make for a wonderful backdrop.
The photo taken in the middle of the street was pretty wild-I was laying on my stomach on the median-getting the best angle, with the traffic coming from behind me on my right side. I could feel and hear the whoosh of the cars going by. Crazy, I know, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get the best stuff. : )
After we did that series I ran along ahead of them and wanted to get them crossing the street. Of course the yellow taxi ended up blocking the crosswalk, their path and my shot. So I used the taxi prominately in the shot and love how it turned out.
Brett & Meagan were so much fun and open to going for something different with their engagement photos. The resulting images from their session are amazing!

Shelby & Eric are such a cute, sweet couple! They are getting married next year in the Chicagoland area and it sounds like they have a beautiful day planned.
We took these a few days ago in Naperville in the downtown/riverwalk area. It was cold & drizzling and they kept warm by cuddling. We started in the bridge so we had shelter from the rain, fortunately it stopped and we could move out into the open.
